When you have provided the necessary information and completed the transaction, your money will be on its way and be picked up by the receiver within 10 minutes*.

Visit our REFinance Christchurch store (within the Community Convenience Centre/CashOnCashel building/Cashel Shopping Centre) to send and receive money. Remember to bring with you valid photo ID, a proof of address and source of funds^.

How to Send Money

  1. Visit our REFinance Christchurch store within Community Convenience Centre, present one or more forms of your government issued identification^, fill in a short, simple "Send" form along with the money you want to send, plus fees.

    You will receive a receipt and reference number for the send transaction. Save both for your records and share with the person receiving the money transfer.

  2. Contact the person receiving your money transfer has been sent via MoneyGram and provide the Reference Number and amount being sent. The receiver can collect at any MoneyGram location.

How to Receive Money

  1. Request the reference number from the person transferring your money.
  2. Visit our REFinance Christchurch store (within the Community Convenience Centre/CashOnCashel building/Cashel Shopping Centre) along with one or more forms of your government issued identification.
  3. Complete the "Receive" form which is available on our premises. This form is required to pick up transferred money. Complete all fields and:
    • Include the Reference Number
    • Show your identification^
    • Once verified, a REFinance staff member will provide you with your cash in local currency.

The cost to send money internationally depends on how much you want to send and the destination you want to send it to.

Please note that you should only send money to people you know and trust.

^You will be required to provide personal identification, usually one or more of the following: passport, driving license, national identity card or a government issued identification. Additionally you will be required to the following two items: Proof of address and source of funds.

*Subject to receiving agent hours of operation, proper identification, documentation, AML/CFT Act 2009 or its amendment and other NZ legislations, rules and regulations.
