There are a number of buses that go from Shirley Ecolodge Hostel Accommodation to the city centre. They are bus numbers: 46, 0, 7, and M (Metrostar). Bus stops are located along Shirley Road - walking distance from our entrance.
Shortest route to the City Centre:
- Head west on Shirley Rd towards Petrie St
- Turn left at Hills Rd
- Continue along Hills Rd until you are on the corner of Bealey Ave and Fitzgerald Ave
Longer route to the City Centre
- Head west on Shirley Rd towards Petrie St
- Turn left at Hills Rd
- Take the 3rd right onto Edgeware Rd
- Take the 3rd left onto Barbadoes St
- When you have crossed Bealey Ave, you have reached the City Centre of Christchurch
From the Airport:
If travelling from the airport by bus, take bus number 29 to the bus exchange in the city centre then bus number 7 to Shirley Road.
- Head northeast on Durey Rd
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Orchard Rd
- Turn right at Harewood Rd
Go through 1 roundabout
- Harewood Rd turns slightly right and becomes Papanui Rd
- Turn left at Innes Rd
- Turn right at Cranford St
- Take the 3rd left onto Westminster St
- Take the 2nd right onto Forfar St
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Warrington St
- Continue onto Shirley Rd
Destination will be on the left
From the Train Station:
If travelling from the airport by bus, take bus number 29 to the bus exchange in the city centre then bus number 7 to Shirley Road.
- Head northwest on Troup Dr
- Take the 1st left to stay on Troup Dr
- Turn right at Whiteleigh Ave
- Whiteleigh Ave turns slightly left and becomes Clarence St
- Turn right at Riccarton Rd
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Deans Ave
- Continue onto Harper Ave
- Continue onto Bealey Ave
- Turn left at Sherborne St
- Take the 3rd right onto Edgeware Rd
- Take the 2nd left onto Madras St
- Continue onto Forfar St
- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Warrington St
- Continue onto Shirley Rd - Destination will be on the left at number 35.
